Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we get asked before the first meeting.
What is Wavelength Labs?
Wavelength Labs is a behavioral sales and leadership training company based in Phoenix, Arizona. We deliver instructor-led workshops grounded in behavioral science, followed by ongoing AI-powered role-play practice that prevents skills from fading after training ends. Our programs serve Fortune 500 and Fortune 2000 organizations across industries including financial services, manufacturing, and healthcare.
What is the Wavelength Check?
The Wavelength Check is a real-time self-awareness discipline developed by Wavelength Labs. It trains professionals to pause and ask one question: whose wavelength am I on right now? Most people default to their own communication style. The Wavelength Check builds the habit of recognizing how others process, decide, and communicate, then adjusting your approach to meet them where they are. It is the foundational skill taught in every Wavelength Labs program.
How does AI role-play work at Wavelength Labs?
After completing an instructor-led workshop, every participant gets ongoing access to our AI role-play platform, with unlimited practice throughout. The AI simulates realistic conversations that challenge the skills learned in training. It adapts to your responses, provides immediate feedback, and tracks progress toward certification. Participants practice as much as they want and are free to be terrible as often as they need to be. Nobody sees the attempts they are not proud of, because they choose which ones to submit for scoring. This structured practice is what makes training stick, replacing the hope-they-remember approach with consistent, measurable reinforcement.
What is the Sales Mastery Index?
The Sales Mastery Index (SMI) is Wavelength Labs' proprietary diagnostic assessment for sales professionals. It measures skill levels across core selling competencies using 20 scenarios drawn from real sales situations and built from decades of field experience. Participants complete the SMI before training to establish a baseline, then reassess months later to measure actual skill growth. The SMI replaces subjective feedback surveys with objective, data-driven measurement of training effectiveness.
What is the Influence Mastery Index?
The Influence Mastery Index (IMI) is Wavelength Labs' diagnostic assessment for professionals in non-sales roles who need interpersonal influence skills. It uses the same structure as the SMI but with scenarios focused on cross-functional communication, stakeholder management, and professional relationship building. Like the SMI, it provides a pre-training baseline and post-training reassessment to prove measurable skill change.
What programs does Wavelength Labs offer?
Wavelength Labs offers three core programs. Sales Mastery Lab is a consultative selling program for revenue teams. Influence Mastery Lab teaches adaptive communication and influence skills for professionals across any function. High Voltage Leadership Lab is a modular leadership development program for managers and senior leaders. All three are instructor-led workshops followed by ongoing AI role-play practice for skill sustainment.
What is the forgetting curve and why does it matter for training?
The forgetting curve, first identified by psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus in 1885, shows that people forget roughly 70% of new information within one week without reinforcement. A 2015 replication published in PLOS ONE ran the experiment again more than a century later and found the same curve. This is why most corporate training fails: it delivers a one-time event and hopes participants retain the skills. Wavelength Labs addresses this directly by building structured, AI-powered practice into every program, so the practice starts before the curve does.
How long does a Wavelength Labs workshop take?
Workshops are delivered in two formats. The in-person format runs two consecutive days on-site with your team. The virtual format is five sessions of three hours each, spread across one week. Both formats cover the same content and include pre-training assessment, live instructor-led skill building with extensive role-play practice, and post-training reassessment. Ongoing AI role-play certification begins after the workshop.
What makes behavioral sales training different from traditional sales training?
Traditional sales training teaches a process or script and assumes everyone should sell the same way. Behavioral sales training recognizes that buyers decide differently based on their communication style, pace, and priorities. Wavelength Labs trains professionals to read those behavioral patterns in real time and adapt their approach to match. What a rep walks away with is a read they can run on anyone, rather than a pitch they have to remember.
What industries does Wavelength Labs work with?
Our behavioral methodology is industry-agnostic because the underlying skill, adapting your communication to the person in front of you, applies in every professional context. Wavelength Labs serves organizations across financial services (including credit unions and banks), automotive (OEM, dealer, and supporting ecosystem), manufacturing and industrial distribution, insurance, senior living, healthcare, and mortgage lending. Programs are customized with industry-relevant scenarios and role-play situations.
